Typical mistakes in CVs written by non-native speakers
In the CV:
- mere translation - obviously not written by a native speaker
- poor writing style and grammatical mistakes
- weak structure - not marketing the candidate to convince a potential employer that he/she should be invited to an interview.
In the Personal Profile:
- missing entirely
- fails to emphasise the things that are crucial for the job the person is seeking
- obvious use of a template with empty phrases
In the Cover letter:
- underestimated – this is a crucial part of every application
- doesn’t emphasise the candidate’s key skills and experience
- not tailored for the specific position being applied for
- obvious use of a template
- grammatical mistakes, the wrong style or tone
